Chiropractic Care for Shoulder Pain

Shoulder Injuries in Children and Teens

Shoulder injuries are incredibly common in children and teens, especially those who are active and regularly take part in organized sports.

The most common types of shoulder pain that people suffer from include:

  • Dislocation

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Shoulder bursae

  • Rotator cuff injury

  • Strains

  • Sprains

  • Tears

  • Tendinitis

Shoulder pain is typically derived from two types of injuries: acute and overuse.

Acute Injuries. These shoulder injuries are caused by one particular, traumatic episode (i.e. a shoulder dislocation).

Overuse Injuries. These injuries take time to develop, and are caused by repetitive activities (i.e. throwing a baseball) that cause inflammation, soft-tissue damage, and chronic pain.

When children suffer from severe pain, numbness, tingling, and restriction of motion in their shoulders, they should seek specialized care before the damage becomes more permanent.

Chiropractor and Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is usually caused by joint, tissue or nerve irritation in the upper back or lower neck. When this is the case, visiting a chiropractor can be a highly effective and non-invasive treatment option for your child.

At Living Hope Chiropractic, we target the source of pain and then treat it, rather than bringing you temporary pain relief. If your child or teen is dealing with shoulder pain from an acute or overuse injury, contact us today for an evaluation and treatment!
